Description of Community Anxiety Levels After Flash Floods

Abstract

The West Sumatra Provincial Disaster Management Agency stated that the flooding in Agam Regency had a major impact on three sub-districts, namely Canduang District, Sungai Pua District, and IV Koto District. In Agam Regency, specifically in Nagari Batu Palano, a flash flood occurred which resulted in some houses and agricultural land in the Nagari being submerged in water. Twenty-three houses were submerged in the flood in Nagari Batu Palano. The purpose of this study was to determine the level of public anxiety after the flash flood in Nagari Batu Palano, Sungai Pua District, Agam Regency. This type of research isDescriptive QuantitativeThe population in this study was the flood-affected community in Nagari Batu Palano, Sungai Pua District, Agam Regency. Sampling was conducted using a random sampling technique.purposive samplingwith a sample of 354 respondents. Data collection in this study used a questionnaire regarding the level of public anxiety after the flash flood. Data analysis of this study included univariate analysis. The results showed that 49.2% of respondents were in the moderate anxiety category, 42.1% in the mild anxiety category, and 8.8% in the severe anxiety category. Therefore, the results of the study concluded that the anxiety category in the Batu Palano village community was almost entirely in the moderate anxiety category.
