Abstract

The impact of anxiety on the patient's family occurred in the Intensive Care Unit indirectly impact on decision making. The patient's family is the sole decision maker when facing emergency situations that require immediate treatment. By communicating, nurses can listen the feelings of the patient's family in helping to solve the problem problems faced. The use of therapeutic communication  which is less than optimal for nurses can make families are increasingly anxious about limited information about patient care. The general objective of this study is to find out whether there is a relationship Therapeutic Communication with Patient Family Anxiety in the Intensive Care Unit of Achmad Mochtar Regional Hospital Bukittinggi in 2024. This research design is a quantitative research with cross-sectional methods sectional. The population in this study was families patients in ICU with the number of ICU patients in 2023 as many as 596 patients and in January to June There were 303 patients. The sample in this study was 96Data collection in this study used a Likert scale as a measuring tool. The results of this study were analyzed using spearman rank with results of 96 58 respondents (60.4%) said therapeutic communication of ICU nurses is good and some 52 patients' families experienced moderate anxiety respondents (54.2%). So from the research results obtained Conclusion: There is a relationship between communication  Therapeutic with Patient Family Anxiety p_value=0.000 with r value=0.537 with correlation level strong category. Suggestions are needed so that it can be used as a input for Achmad Mochtar Bukittinggi Regional Hospital in implementing Therapeutic Communication for patients and the patient's family. So that the patient's family's anxiety decreases along with the reduction the patient's family's concerns about the patient's condition
