Abstract

Background: Nurses are very important in providing hospital services because they are always close to patients and their families every day. Leadership is the core of organizational management, leadership is very important to ensure that hospital services run smoothly.

Purpose: This study is to determine the relationship between the democratic leadership style of the ward head and the performance of implementing nurses in implementing nursing care in the Inpatient Ward

Methods: The design of this study used a quantitative research design with a cross-sectional method with the Chi Square data processing technique. The study population was implementing nurses in the inpatient ward totaling 66 nurses. The sampling technique for this study was total sampling. The research instrument used a democratic leadership style and nurse performance questionnaire.

Results: The results showed that 39 nurses (59.1%) stated that the democratic leadership style was good and 42 nurses (63.6%) had good performance. There is a relationship between the democratic leadership style of the ward head and the performance of the implementing nurse in implementing nursing care in the inpatient ward of RSU. UKI with a p-value <0.001 (p <0.05).

Conclusion: The results of the Chi-Square test of the relationship between the democratic leadership style of the ward head and the performance of implementing nurses showed a p-value with a value <0.001 (p <0.05) so there is a significant relationship between the democratic leadership style and the performance of implementing nurses in implementing nursing care
